Miss Mustard Seed Artissimo - LOVE

I am just falling more and more in love with Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint, so I thought I would share some of my recent MMS Milk Paint pieces with the details.

First up is the color Artissimo.  The perfect color for this vanity.  The mirror was missing, but i think the fabric garland made up for it.
MMS Milk Paint in Artissimo with bonding agent & finished with hemp oil.

This sweet pair of end tables wanted to be painted in Kitchen Scale, so I obliged. :) Love how they turned out.

Blue Minerals Chalk Paint Powder

I came across Blue Minerals Chalk Powder a few months ago and was excited to give it a try.  Blue Minerals is a NATURAL paint additive designed to transform any latex or acrylic paint into an extremely porous, chalk style paint.

The thing that I was most excited about is that you can choose ANY COLOR and ANY BRAND of paint to mix this powder with.  Honestly, I was somewhat skeptical.  I have tried various home made chalk paint recipes in the past and have found them to be very gritty and not very effective, but this product is completely different and really surprised me.  I LOVED it and loved the unlimited color options it opened up for me.

So Sweet - Coral Dipped Chest

This chest of drawers is about the sweetest thing I have ever seen!  If I had a little girl, this one would be staying with me. :)  This beautiful antique piece has so many stunning details.  I painted it gray with some distressed white accents and a pop or coral on those curvy legs.  Has all the original brass hardware in tact, which is very rare and it sits on original wood casters.

Coming Soon

First up, let me clarify that the title "Funky Junk DIY University" is meant to be slightly funny and a little sarcastic.  I dont want anyone to think I take myself that seriously. :)

I have had so many emails, comments and requests for tips and tricks on painting furniture and making various projects.  I have been hesitant in the past to share the details because I did not consider myself an expert and certainly do not always do things the way they are "supposed" to be done...but it is the way that works for me.   As I was thinking about changes I could make in 2014, I decided that featuring some DIY tutorials might be fun for all of us.  When you see the behind the scenes details of some of my projects, it might be clear how funny the "DIY University" title really is. But I also hope it will provide some inspiration for you.

I hope to do a FUNKY JUNK DIY UNIVERSITY post once a week.  These posts will feature new products and paint lines, tutorials (like how to paint a herringbone dresser or how to make a PARTAY TABLE !) and lots of tips and tricks!

If you dont want to miss these posts, be sure to add your email over on the upper right hand side of this page (follow by email) and the blog posts will come right to your inbox.
